Ashton "BS" Hemphill

The name is Ashton Hemphill. I was born in Farmington, New Mexico. All through school I played just about every sport there is. My sophomore year of high school I met a buddy named Mark who started me in the wonderful world of rock crawling. Mark had a jeep Cherokee with 33x1250’s. At the time you were a monster if you had 33x1250’s! He was locked in the rear and could climb a lot of stuff. One evening we went out and climbed the waterfall trail, after that I was hooked. Later that year I found myself racing my 1980 Ford Mustang hatchback with a straight 4 with a Motor craft crab against a 1967 Camero, it was carrying a 454 with a 6 pack (you hold onto something that cherry) you were glad to know that I won the race but not after blew 2 cylinders. Two days later I owned a 1983 orange Ford Ranger. I put a 6” lift and 33x1250 swampers and a lock right in the rear and that’s where I started. Two years of rock crawling in various places as Moab, Las Cruces, and the wonderful world of Farmington, New Mexico. The sport of rock crawling took a turn for the best when the first championship was held in Farmington. That’s where I found myself watching local heroes such as Steve and Amy Bulloch, Matt and Garrett Sisson, and many others to mention. I went to every event in Farmington even judged most all of them including the first women’s competition and that’s where I met the craziest chick with pink hair named Cathy Baucom, missing you. For five years after the first event I started four wheelin with some of the funniest people to four-wheel with such as Jim Petersen, Phil Collard, Robbie Bradshaw, and many others. In 2004, I met a wonderful girl by the name of Amy Bulloch and her Steven.. Amy, Steve and I ended up going to Moab together that year and that is where we all bonded like brothers and sisters. I had a great time in Moab driving their buggy. I felt like the legendary Walker Evans. After we got back I started helping Steve and Jim Petersen finish building their new buggy trying our hardest to be ready for the competition in Farmington. Working 48 hours straight Jim, Steve and I didn’t make it because we had engine problems. We finished up the buggy in time for St. George’s competition where we ended up breaking the hydraulic ram for the steering. Not doing to well in the 2004 season we moved into the rock crawling championship in Salt Lake City. With Amy pregnant, Steve and his brother Michael pressed on. Doing ok in Salt Lake but looking forward to a better year in 2005. I’m proud to say I’m a new uncle. Team She-J will be number 1 again.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Team She-J is not responsible for anything Ashton says in this page that is why we gave him the name BS
